The Belarusian Foreign Ministry demanded that the Estonian embassy in the country reduce the staff to two people by October 1. About it reported on the website of the department on September 23.
The statement states that the Estonian embassy must retain one diplomatic officer to carry out consular functions, as well as one administrative and technical staff member.
“Similarly, the Belarusian side will reduce its diplomatic presence in Estonia,” the statement says.
Moreover, the Foreign Ministry added, the Belarusian ambassador to Estonia will be recalled for consultations in Minsk.
It is noted that the restoration of the former diplomatic relations between the countries will be considered only after the leadership of Estonia returns to the “civilized generally recognized principles of interstate communication and mutually respectful dialogue”
On September 19, Belarusian Ambassador to Chisinau Anatoly Kalinin was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI) because of Lukashenka’s statements that the United States was pushing Europe into a military confrontation with Russia in Ukraine and this could affect Moldova.
On September 16, the Latvian deputies announced the suspension of a number of agreements with Belarus from October 10. This measure applies to the following agreements: on a simplified procedure for mutual trips of residents of border areas, on mutual assistance in customs matters and agreements on air traffic.
At the end of August, a 502 km long barrier was completed on the border between Belarus and Latvia.
