Many users have received mentions to participate in the promotion and have joked about it on social networks
In recent days, a multitude of Instagram users have received one or several mentions of posts on the social network inviting them to participate in a raffle in which you can get an iPhone 13. You may have been one of the Internet users contacted, but do not become in a victim letting yourself be carried away by the flashiness of the gift: it is a deceptive publication behind which a dangerous scam is hidden.
The post ensures that by following the link in the biography you will win a state-of-the-art smartphone for just 2 euros, because you have won a raffle. If you have received one of these mentions, the most important thing is that you do not click on the link they indicate. The moment you access that link, they will ask you to enter your bank card information to get hold of the alleged iPhone 13, but what they will really get is your personal information to impersonate your identity.
Social networks such as Twitter have been filled with messages highlighting this massive fraud that has become viral, as many users, aware of the fraudulent nature of the alleged draw, have taken it with humor: “I have so many iPhone 13s that I can already set up my own Apple Store” or “My tenth iPhone13 so far this day” are some of the messages that can be found online.
Recommendations for reporting fraudulent accounts
If you are one of those affected by this fraud attempt, you can follow some recommendations to report this type of account. First, within the publication where you have been tagged, you can report it from the three points in the upper right corner in the ‘fraud’ option. Later, you can select to block the account in question as well as all those that belong to that IP, so that the person or robot behind it will not be able to mention you again in publications of dubious reliability.
In this sense, it is also possible to avoid these unwanted labels by choosing that only the users you choose can mention you. You will find this option in Settings> Privacy> Publications. You can choose between not being tagged by anyone or only by the people you follow.
