German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett discussed the results of the Israeli leader’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Berlin. This was announced by the official representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of Germany, Steffen Hebeshtreit, his words are quoted by TASS.

Hebeshtreit said that following the meeting, Scholz and Bennett agreed to remain in close contact on the situation in Ukraine. According to the official, both leaders declared their readiness to “work with all their might” to “end the war in Ukraine.”

The Israeli prime minister became the first foreign leader to visit Moscow since the start of the military operation of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine on February 24.
In late February, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked Bennett to mediate negotiations with Putin. According to journalists of the Financial Times newspaper, such an appeal could be facilitated by the strategic partnership between Israel and Russia in Syria and elsewhere.
On March 2, Putin and Bennett had a telephone conversation. They exchanged views on the situation around Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine. Then the leaders of the two countries agreed to continue personal contacts.
Negotiations with Ukraine
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation in the Donbass. Thus, Russia responded to requests for military assistance from the heads of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DNR and LNR).
On February 28, Russia and Ukraine held the first stage of negotiations. They started at about 14:00 Moscow time and lasted about five hours. The second round took place on March 3rd. The parties agreed to create channels of communication and interaction to organize humanitarian corridors with the possibility of a ceasefire.

On Saturday evening, March 5, David Arakhamia, a member of the Ukrainian delegation, leader of the Servant of the People faction, said that the third round of negotiations with Ukraine could take place on Monday, March 7. He did not give other details of the meeting, nor did he indicate its possible location.
Later, this information was confirmed by the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky. According to him, the Ukrainian delegation has to coordinate actions both with President Volodymyr Zelensky and with the West.
