“It is truly impressive to see Naughty Dog’s commitment to accessibility. The studio continues to innovate from game to game, making their titles accessible to more players. The work of Neil Druckmann and the team is a source of inspiration.” , reads Phil Spencer’s tweet, posted under a Naughty Dog post where he presents the over 60 accessibility options of The Last of Us Part 1 remake.
Naughty Dog’s response follows:
“We are thrilled with the progress our talented developers have made in various fields in terms of accessibility, and continuing to look for new ways to make games more accessible is an industry-wide effort. Thank you very much!”
Microsoft Xbox has long been at the forefront of making the gaming medium accessible to gamers with physical disabilities. The most obvious example of these efforts is the Xbox Adaptive Controller, a highly customizable modular peripheral designed to meet any need.
In recent years, the PlayStation Studios teams have also increased their attention to the issue of accessibility. Examples include Horizon Forbidden West and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, as well as God of War: Ragnarok, which will include over 60 dedicated options.
