Zarzuela confirms that his state of health “is good” and that he will remain in isolation for the next seven days | The Queen and Infanta Sofía have no symptoms so they can continue with their activities
The King has canceled his schedule after testing positive for covid-19 after he started showing mild symptoms last night. The last time Felipe VI was seen was in a public act this Tuesday in two military audiences that took place in the Royal Palace.
In a statement, Zarzuela reported that the monarch’s state of health “is good” but he will remain in isolation for the next seven days, for which his official activity has been suspended. However, the monarch “will maintain his institutional activity from his residence.” Specifically, these same sources added, the “office tasks of his function” of him as head of state.
Don Felipe was going to hold a meeting this Wednesday with the president of Bosnia, Željko Komšić, which has finally been replaced by a videoconference. After him, Queen Letizia and the first lady, Sabina Komšić, were going to join them to enjoy a private lunch at the Zarzuela. The Kings will not attend this Thursday the audience with Giullaume Faury, CEO of Airbus or the delivery of the XVIII King of Spain Economy Prize, which he was going to attend in the afternoon.
Both the Queen and the Infanta Sofía do not present symptoms for now and “will be able to continue with their planned activities normally”, although both, the Royal House insists, will undergo “the planned monitoring protocols” in these cases. Letizia is expected to visit the Quirónsalud Proton Therapy center tomorrow in Pozuelo de Alarcón.
“Speedy recovery”
After learning of the monarch’s positive, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has conveyed his wishes for “a speedy recovery.” “I hope the symptoms are mild and I can get back to normal soon,” he wrote on his Twitter account.
The head of the opposition, Pablo Casado, also wished the monarch a “speedy recovery”. “We hope that as soon as possible – he wrote on his social networks – he can recover his essential institutional agenda.”
