The Contentious-Administrative Court of Soria maintains the very precautionary measure urged by the animalist party PACMA against the celebration of the Toro Jubilo de Medinaceli (Soria), rejecting so the allegations presented by the Junta of Castilla y León and the Medinaceli City Council against the resolution.
In his writing, against which there is an appeal, the magistrate once again recalls that he considers “worthy of greater protection the physical integrity, well-being and life of the animal” compared to the traditional celebration, which was scheduled for next November 16.
As the judge argues, the traditional element, tradition and certain rites “cannot stand as an insurmountable barrier to the current consideration of animals as sentient beings” and their due and legal protection by European and Spanish regulations.
In response to the allegations, made by both the Medinaceli City Council and the Regional Government of Castilla y León, the document emphasizes that the Judge “estimated the extremely precautionary measure requested by PACMA, first appreciating the time pressure that attended, with a celebration scheduled to be held then four business days away, and now just two days away, also showing that all parties to this process have delayed any resolution significantly.
The Contentious Administrative Court of Soria also rejects the “peculiar argument” put forward by the Delegation of the Junta de Castilla y León by stating that said sentence “is not final” and that the resolution of the appeals presented by the Board and the Medinaceli City Council itself.
In conclusion, this order ratifies the suspension of the celebration of this year’s Toro Jubilo until there is a final ruling that decides if the suspension is definitiveas requested by PACMA, or its celebration can be resumed in later editions, something for which the Junta de Castilla y León and the Medinaceli City Council are fighting.
After the suspension decision, the Soria municipality will be the epicenter this Saturday two concentrations of opposing positionsbullfighting champions of the Jubilo Bull Association and anti-bullfighting convened by PACMAa scenario for which the Government Subdelegation has prepared a special safety device in order to avoid conflicts between both parties.
