The influenza strains circulating in Russia pose a great danger; you should not expect them to pass easily without vaccination. Andrey Prodeus, chief freelance pediatric allergist-immunologist of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region, told Izvestia about this on Friday, November 18.
“These are very nasty strains. Influenza vaccination, which is being carried out now, is directed specifically against them. I see more dangers in them in terms of the course of the disease than in the coronavirus at present. You should not expect this flu to pass easily without vaccination. Today’s strains can cause such unpleasant consequences as high fever, lethargy, weakness and long duration. They are difficult for people to tolerate, ”the specialist emphasized.
According to him, the resources of the immunity of each person, especially people from risk groups, are not endless.
“If they experience problems caused by the coronavirus, since they have not yet recovered from COVID-19, then against this background, the influenza infection will worsen the condition,” Prodeus warned.
He pointed out that first of all now you need to be vaccinated against the flu, and then against the coronavirus. In this case, it is allowed to put both vaccinations on the same day.
Earlier that day, Rospotrebnadzor announced an increase in the activity of influenza strains identified this year. In addition, the A(H1N1) strain of swine flu, which showed significant pandemic potential during swine flu in 2009, still poses a significant threat to human health.
According to experts, influenza is especially dangerous for children, the elderly and people with chronic diseases. In the event of the development of complications, almost all vital systems can be hit – the central nervous system, respiratory and cardiovascular. Timely immunization will help to avoid serious complications, including pneumonia.
