The president of HoyTú, Jesús Jiménez, insists that it is a “definitive” proposal and that, if it is not accepted, “there will be no agreement”
The negotiation to unblock the collective agreement of the hospitality sector is experiencing a new chapter this Wednesday morning that the employers hope will be the definitive one. As announced on Monday by the president of the Regional Federation of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs of the Region of Murcia (HoyTú), Jesús Jiménez, the employers will offer the unions, on the return of contacts, a meeting at the Office of Mediation and Labor Arbitration (OMAL) that starts at 12 noon, a proposal to try to put an end to about 14 years of freezing working conditions in the sector. As THE TRUTH has learned, this offer will consist of signing a salary increase of 15.5% divided into three years, with 11.5% in 2022, 2% in 2023 and another 2% in 2024.
HoyTú’s proposal also includes coverage for temporary disabilities. Specifically, the proposal offers coverage of 100% of the worker’s compensation for sick leave due to accidents at work, professional illness and serious common illness, while for the rest of common contingencies it would be an adaptation in three years that would entail that in 2022 100% of the remuneration be reached from the 30th, from the 45th in 2023, until reaching the remuneration established by law from 2024.
It is, as defended by the employers, “a great effort” in salary matters in a proposal that they describe as “beneficial for employees and employers” in the context of the economic crisis.
Businessmen emphasize that the proposal comes in “the worst crisis in history” in the hospitality industry due to the effects of the pandemic and the rise in energy costs and raw materials. For this reason, Jesús Jiménez maintains the ultimatum that he already launched during his attendance at the presentation on Monday of the CEO Congress at the Casino de Murcia: “If the offer is not accepted, there will be no agreement.”
Despite the notorious disagreements that employers and unions have been involved in over the last year and, especially, during the summer, from Hoytú they show their hope that this offer will allow an agreement that affects 35,000 workers in the sector.
