Agents of the Special Group of Underwater Activities of the Civil Guard (GEAS) continue this Saturday with the search for missing in the Valencian town of Paiportawhere they access the vehicles that ended up inside the open holes to build new buildings in the new area of the town.
Accompanied by agents from the UME, a GEAS unit walk through the pits of the different constructions that were underway, where dozens of cars and vans have accumulated.
After descending held by ropes, aided by levers and hoes, the agents advance through the mud and They open the windows of the vehicles to check if there are bodies inside.
In this town, the search also continues for missing persons in parking lots of large businesses to which It had not yet been accessed because it was completely flooded.
Neighbors’ request
Cranes, heavy machinery and excavators are the requests of residents who live in urbanizations near the A-3, near the Valencian towns of Cheste, Loriguilla and Godelleta, given the images they are observing on the roads parallel to the highway , where there are cars “completely buried in the mud.”
Sofía, one of the people who lives in that area, says that she has been able to speak with the firefighters who are working to remove these vehicles and that they have explained to her that they are sufficient in terms of personnel, but that they need more machinery to continue removing the vehicles that are “crumpled paper.”
“In many of them you can’t even recognize the color of the car”emphasizes Sofía, who comments that they did not know that there were vehicles submerged in the mud until they found the wheels of one and, when they removed it, they observed that there were more cars completely sunk.
“They are buried in the mud”highlights Sofía, who highlights that the Poyo ravine, which before reaching Paiporta surrounds the Cheste circuit and crosses the A-3, has been the cause of all this devastation, as it has caused the vehicles that are at the sides of A-3 are “completely ground”.
For all these reasons, Sofía, one of the neighbors who lives in that area between Godelleta and Cheste, who had to prepare for an already canceled Valencian Community Grand Prix of motorcycling, has sued: “please bring cranes, excavators and heavy machinery”because it does not know the number of vehicles that are at that point.
Sofía explained that these vehicles are “on the edge of the ravine” del Poyo, which crosses the A-3 and arrives from towns such as Chiva, which registered 445.4 l/m2 in 24 hours.
