Ciudad Juarez.- After four government agents were fired in July for allegedly being involved in illegal acts of extortion against merchants, Santiago de la Peña, Secretary General of Government, said that to fill the vacancies of agents, he does not care, “if they are from Chihuahua, Camargo, Casas Grandes, Cuauhtémoc or Ciudad Juárez, the important thing is that they do their job in accordance with the law.”
“We are here, the governor has instructed us to provide the public service for which we were hired, and those who are not capable or who fail to comply with the law and do the work that was entrusted to them, have no place in this administration,” the official added.
De la Peña mentioned that she had a meeting with the head of the office, Juana Ramona García “Juanita”, to reorganize the office and align its operation with the expectations of the citizens.
The head of the government stressed that the main objective is to form a work team that not only complies with current legal regulations, but also demonstrates a genuine commitment to its functions.
The current review seeks to ensure that staff are trained and willing to meet the required standards, thereby avoiding similar problems to those the office faced in the past.
The head of the office was appointed to implement measures to ensure the office operates more efficiently, the secretary said.
In this review, special emphasis was placed on forming a competent and honest team that can fulfill its assigned responsibilities and manage the demands of citizens and businesses that interact with the Ministry of the Interior.
In addition to the changes in the Ministry of the Interior, the government implemented other measures to improve regulation in different areas.
“Collaboration with citizens is seen as a crucial component in this process, with the aim of identifying and resolving problems effectively and ensuring that order and compliance with the law are maintained,” he concluded.
