Diplomat Birichevsky: Russia may demand compensation for blowing up Nord Stream
The head of the Department for Economic Cooperation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Dmitry Birichesky, admitted that Moscow may eventually demand compensation for damage due to explosions at Nord Stream. His words lead RIA News.
The diplomat commented on the West’s reaction to the draft Russian resolution on the investigation of sabotage on pipelines. “Western countries are actively sabotaging the work on the draft resolution, referring to the lack of “added value” to the international investigation,” he said.
Birichesky also stressed that, despite this, Moscow will continue to seek an independent international investigation with the participation of Russian representatives.
Earlier it was reported that Russia called on UN countries, including Denmark, Sweden and Germany, to cooperate with the organization’s commission in investigating the sabotage at Nord Stream. In addition, Moscow also called on UN Secretary General António Guterres to form an international independent commission to conduct a full and independent international investigation into the incident.
