Mothers and fathers of students from the CEIP Sagrado Corazón de Librilla protested this Friday morning at the doors of the school because of the “security problems” in the facilities, after part of the roof covering of the Children’s pavilion fell off due to the wind and fell into the courtyard where hours before dozens of children were playing. In fact, many parents decided that their children would not go to class this Friday to avoid any incident because “the pavilions are not safe and the one on the roof deck has not been an isolated case,” according to AMPA sources. The parents have been asking for a new school “for a decade”, and already in 2015 they protested in front of the center due to the poor condition of the building, which is more than 50 years old and which also accumulates leaks and humidity.
The works on the new school are already underway, although they have been paralyzed for several weeks. The Ministry of Education informed the AMPA of the center that the work would resume between November and December, but the parents are asking for “a push” to the works to be able to take their children to a school “safely, because here we cannot leave them safe.” ». The City Council’s own technicians who inspected the facilities assured the parents that it was “advisable” that the students not go to the center this Friday.
For their part, sources from the Ministry of Education assure that the technicians from the department headed by Víctor Marín “are at the center working” this Friday morning. “The fall of a tile in the children’s pavilion is being repaired; between today and tomorrow it is expected to be corrected,” the same sources indicate.
