The German DAX index also fell 0.26 percent, the French CAC40 index fell 0.35 percent, and the British FTSE 100 index fell 0.08 percent.
At the beginning of the session, the mining sector index rose 1.3 percent, with basic metal prices increasing supported by hopes for stronger demand from China, after data last week showed some signs of stability in the second largest economy in the world.
Shares of the Swedish steel maker SSA jumped by 4 percent at the beginning of trading, before reducing the rise to… 1.64 percent.
Among other individual stocks, BioNTech shares, listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, fell by nearly five percent, after its partner Pfizer, on Friday, lowered expectations for full-year revenues due to a decline in sales of the Covid-19 vaccine and treatment.
