A Aneel (National Electric Energy Agency) reported that the number of dams in a state of attention in Rio Grande do Sul increased from 4 to 5 between Friday (May 3) and this Saturday (May 4, 2024). Two dams remain in a state of emergency.
According to the regulatory agency, there was a warning of partial rupture of the PCH (Small Hydroelectric Power Station) Salto Forqueta reservoir, located on the Forqueta River, in the municipalities of Putinga and São José do Herval. The electricity transmission situation around Porto Alegra also worsened and it was necessary to evacuate the company’s operation center. CPFL in Canoas (RS). Around 286 thousand people in the State remain without electricity.

The Nova Santa Rita substation remains out of operation. The shutdown disabled 16 transmission lines. Other important facilities out of operation are the Cidade industrial/Venâncio Aires and Lajeado 2/Lajeado 3 transmission lines and the Candelária substation.
The hydroelectric plants Castro Alves, 14 de Julho, Monte Claro and the Jacuí substation also remain out of operation.
A RGE (Rio Grande Energia), which belongs to the CPFL group, said that 248 thousand customers are still without electricity (8.1% of the company’s consumers), with 46 municipalities having their supply completely interrupted.
Already the CEEE Equatorial reported 38,000 customers interrupted this Saturday (May 4). All municipalities in the concession area were impacted, with emphasis on the level of severity due to flooding in 44 municipalities.
