Macron added that there will be a delay before the next round is held, as reported by “Reuters”.
“I think it is likely that this round of negotiations will not succeed given the positions,” Macron told reporters.
He continued, “It is likely that these negotiations will not continue in the near term.”
In the same context, the European coordinator on the nuclear talks with Iran announced the end of the negotiations that started a few days ago in the Austrian capital Vienna.
Although the European official was keen to show the positive atmosphere in the negotiations, he admitted that they cannot continue forever.
“This round of nuclear talks was characterized by realism,” he said, adding, “Nuclear talks with Iran will not last forever.”
The European official suggested that the nuclear negotiations in Vienna would be completed next year, speaking of various drafts being discussed during the Vienna negotiations on Iran.
Signs of the failure of the negotiations had accumulated in the past days, and Washington said that there was no reason for optimism, while Tehran questioned the intentions of the United States.
The current negotiations seek to save the nuclear agreement, by returning the United States to the nuclear agreement that it withdrew from in 2018 during the era of former President Donald Trump, and forcing Iran to abide by the terms of the agreement, many of which it repudiated.
Tehran wants to lift the sanctions imposed on it completely and at once, which the United States rejects, and the latter wants guarantees to limit the Iranian nuclear program.
