Breakfast meals were provided to more than 5,000 workers of different nationalities, and a large segment of society, including citizens and residents, participated in preparing them.
The collective humanitarian breakfast within the “Thousand Cooking” program joins the Emirates Food Bank’s group of initiatives aimed at providing nutritional meals to beneficiaries, in addition to sub-initiatives and campaigns, which include the “Your Breakfast is on Us” campaign, the “No Food Waste” initiative, and the “Food Baskets” initiative. », and «Iftar with the Workers», in addition to more than 25 awareness programmes. These initiatives are implemented with the support of the strategic partners and supporters of the bank’s initiatives and campaigns, who number more than 350 strategic partners from food establishments, hotels and companies.
The head of the executive team at the Emirates Food Bank, Manal Bin Yarouf, said: “The collective humanitarian breakfast emerged from the ‘The Thousand Cooking’ programme, one of the Emirates Food Bank’s initiatives during the month of Ramadan, which translates and embodies the bank’s vision and objectives, which are based on encouraging the community to participate actively.” In such initiatives, in addition to encouraging generous contributions to their implementation, which seeks to provide meals and food baskets to various societal groups.”
She added: “The (A Thousand Cooking) program is based on competition between an elite group of chefs of different nationalities, to prepare 1,000 meals a day for each chef. The main idea of the program revolves around competition in preparing good meals, while maintaining security and safety standards without any waste and with high safety controls to achieve the goals and aspirations of the Food Bank, and the program instills the values of competition in doing good and volunteering in community service.”
She pointed out that in addition to supporting chefs and volunteers, a group of food companies and companies specialized in preparing kitchens are providing the necessary tools and materials, so that these companies will be an effective contributor to the success of this program, which is carried out under the direct supervision of Dubai Municipality on food safety through monitoring the standards used by Emirates Food Bank is involved in all steps of receiving, transporting, storing and distributing food.
The director of the “Thousand Cooking” program, Ibrahim Ali Khadem, said, “The initiative witnessed a great turnout from the chefs who volunteered to prepare thousands of meals over the past days, from citizens and residents, and who embodied, with their giving, the finest values of community cohesion and responsibility in contributing to the success of the initiatives launched to the society”.
He pointed out that the program distributed more than 24,000 meals, and it is expected that the number of meals prepared and distributed before the end of the holy month of Ramadan will exceed 30,000 meals within the “Thousand Cooking” program, one of the Emirates Food Bank’s initiatives in the month of Ramadan, which collectively aims to provide more Of five million breakfast and suhoor meals.
He said, “The initiative was characterized by the great participation of various members of society who were keen to be present continuously to volunteer, and to provide assistance and assistance in preparing and distributing meals,” stressing that the number of volunteers doubled within a few days of the launch of the initiative, which contributes to providing breakfast meals to groups.
