– Episode of the 15 Minutos podcast talks about the “elections” in Venezuela and the maneuvers of Nicolás Maduro.
*) It seems increasingly difficult to call what is about to happen in Venezuela on July 28th an “election”.
Despite promises of clean and free elections, a series of signals given by Nicolás Maduro's regime are going in the opposite direction.
The clearest example: the main opponent, Maria Corína Machado, chosen even in a preliminary process, was disqualified by the electoral authorities (submissive to Maduro). Her replacement, Corina Yoris, had a series of problems registering her own candidacy.
To guarantee a place on the ballot, the opposition bloc registered a provisional candidate, Edmundo González Urrutia.
In other words: it seems that only those allowed by the Venezuelan regime can compete.
