10 years after the death of the champion Marco Simoncelli (20 September 1987 – 23 October 2011), the documentary Sky Original produced by Sky, Fremantle Italy and Mowe arrives in SIC cinemas, distributed to the cinema as an event output by Nexo Digital only on 28 and December 29th.
Through interviews and unpublished testimonies, film reconstructions, memories of friends and rivals, SIC – directed by Alice Filippi (“On the most beautiful”, “’78 – Go slowly but win”) and written with Vanessa Picciarelli, Francesco Scarrone and produced by Gabriele Immirzi and Ettore Paternò for Fremantle, Roberta Trova for Mowe and Roberto Pisoni for Sky – is an intense and exciting portrait of a unique champion, a boy who had a dream bigger than his limits and who did everything to make it come true.
SIC tells the human and sporting parable of Marco Simoncelli, a child who dreamed of becoming “World Champion”. Despite the difficulties, the falls, the heated duels, Marco in the 2008 season, incredibly and unexpectedly, will win the World Championship at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia. The same one on which he will fatally lose his life three years later at just 24 years old.
SIC is realized thanks to the contribution of the Emilia-Romagna Region and the support of the Emilia-Romagna Film Commission. It is distributed in cinemas in collaboration with the media partner Radio Deejay.
