Influenza can have the same serious consequences as coronavirus, especially for people who have had COVID-19. This was announced on Saturday, November 20, by the head of the Department of Virology of the Russian Medical Academy of Continuing Professional Education Elena Malinnikova.
“Influenza has always been considered by infectious disease doctors to be a rather difficult disease. Influenza is severe in people with various chronic diseases of the cardiovascular system, a hundred times more severe in people with chronic diseases of the pulmonary system, ”- quotes the words of the specialist TASS…
At the same time, the possibility of infection with both the flu and the coronavirus cannot be ruled out, she stressed. In case of influenza, the patient may face negative consequences if before that he had been ill with COVID-19 and had some residual effects.
According to Malinnikova, at the moment, influenza vaccination is no less urgent than coronavirus vaccination.
On November 17, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, named all Russians who have had COVID-19 a new influenza risk group. At the same time, Popova recalled that citizens who have endocrine pathologies, chronic diseases of the lungs and heart also fall into the risk group.
Against the backdrop of a worsening epidemiological situation, the Russian authorities are urging residents to get vaccinated in order to protect their health and take care of their loved ones. Citizens are vaccinated for free. Five vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, which became the first vaccine against COVID-19 in the Russian Federation and the world, as well as Sputnik Light, EpiVacCorona, EpiVacCorona-N and KoviVak.
