TOLEDO.- The archaeological works carried out in the Tavera Hospital of Toledo have brought to light this Wednesday an explosive device, circa 1936, which has forced evict the students from the San Juan Bautista schoolalso located in the building.
An archaeologist was in charge of raising the alarm around two in the afternoon, explaining that during the excavations carried out in the building, in a room surrounded by cisterns, this artifact from the Civil War had appeared. .
A finding that has been reported to the National Police, which has confirmed the presence of the explosive device and has notified the Tédax for deactivation.
At the same time, the parents of the school’s students have been notified to pick up the students as soon as possible, evacuating the school as a preventive measure.
For their part, sources from the Government Delegation confirmed that the artifact found was quite deteriorated and that the Tédax removed it from the site around four in the afternoon, to proceed with its controlled detonation.
This is not the first time a discovery of this nature has occurred at the Tavera Hospital. It is worth remembering that In 2016, another artifact already appeared of the Civil War in the Tavera Hospital, which also had to be deactivated by the Tédax. On that occasion it was found on the roof of the main chapel during restoration work. Also then, as happened this Wednesday, it was decided as a precaution to evacuate the school during the time that the deactivation and removal of the device lasted.
