The danger is not (only) that there are Nazis, hatred and hoaxes in X

To leave or not to leave X. That is the debate that has not ceased since the far-right billionaire Elon Musk bought Twitter and that has intensified after the electoral victory of Donald Trump. This is a complex dilemma, in which both options have advantages and disadvantages. Despite this, I am committed to a coordinated abandonment of this network and I am going to try to explain my reasons.

I start at the end, with the argument that, I think, should weigh the most when deciding. Musk controls the algorithms, the guts of the computer programs that govern the functioning of the social network, he decides what he wants us to see and what not, he eliminates followers, blocks accounts… Being in X, we are in his hands. It is not (only) that there are many Nazis in that social network. It is not (only) that there is impunity for criminals, pedophiles, generators of hate and bullies. The problem is that the rules and the board of the game that we share with these mobs are managed by one of the leaders of the global far-right entente. A board and rules that are also opaque. It is not a card game in which we see that they are cheating us; It is a virtual game in which we are not aware of when and to what extent we are being deceived.
