Several sources speak of the collaboration of Michael Jackson in the music of the game, but SEGA has never confirmed it.
It is normal that behind a great franchise we find a good handful of anecdotes, curiosities and details that would interest any fan, and the games of Sonic they are not exempt from it. Without a doubt, one of the biggest urban legends of the brand is related to the music of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, which could have been composed by the very same Michael Jackson. Because, although various sources spoke of this possibility, SEGA states that it has never used songs created by the King of Pop.
Sonic 3’s music has changed, even though SEGA Official uses Michael Jackson’s musicYūji NakaIt was to be expected that the creator of the blue hedgehog, Yūji Naka, was aware of the mystery surrounding the third installment of Sonic. And, although he has not confirmed his participation in the game, of course he has set the networks on fire with a single tweet in which he mentions changes in the music of Sonic Origins, the recent compilation of the mascot’s retro adventures: “Oh God mine, the music of Sonic 3 has changed, even though SEGA Official uses the music of Michael Jackson“.
The community has been quick to point out what would have been the official confirmation of the collaboration, but Naka has continued his thread of tweets with a comment that denies all speculation. In the end, the creator of Sonic takes it back and says that his words were referring to a recent TikTok video in which the hedgehog is seen dancing to the rhythm of Michael Jackson.
In this way, SEGA still does not confirm a fact that was commented even by one of the collaborators of the King of Pop. Be that as it may, Yuji Naka is not wrong, since the delivery of Sonic 3 that is within the Sonic Origins compilation presents a slightly different soundtrack than the original, something the mascot’s creator quickly noted.
