The Civil Guard investigates a driver, a resident of Granada, for driving eight kilometers in the opposite direction to avoid a drug control on the A-7 motorway, at the height of La Mamola (Granada). The investigated person faces a crime against road safety for driving recklessly and a crime of disobedience for avoiding the control that had been arranged for vehicles traveling in the direction of Almería.
The anti-drug control was ordered by the Civil Guard at kilometer 367 of the A-7, on January 11. During the device, the agents saw how a black BMW passenger car stopped dead, turned around on the road and fled at high speed in the opposite direction of traffic. According to the Civil Guard, the driver passed several vehicles along the eight kilometers he traveled, until he reached the Castillo de Baños exit, at kilometer 359. There, he left the highway to rejoin the correct lanes and continue the flight to Granada.
A traffic patrol from the Civil Guard tried —unsuccessfully— to intercept this vehicle at Castell de Ferro. The investigators asked the Traffic Control Center of Malaga for the license plates of all the vehicles that circulated on the highway in the time slot in which the events occurred, as well as the images recorded by the cameras located in the section in which driving in the opposite direction occurred.
After studying these images, the agents found out the license plate of the vehicle, that the car was registered in Granada and that it belonged to a resident of the Granada capital. The investigation has been carried out by the Investigation Group of the Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Granada.
