Horner defends himself
There was obviously a lot of anticipation surrounding it Christian Hornerat the first public release during the presentation of the Red Bull RB20, after the proceedings initiated by Red Bull against him for the complaint by an employee of inappropriate behavior received by the British manager.
Horner – despite the whirlwind of rumors in recent weeks – gave himself over to journalists and their questions, on the sidelines of the unveiling of the new Red Bull single-seater: “There is a process and I fully respect that. Obviously it's a distraction for the team, but I can assure you that the team is very united”he stated at BBC.
Trust in the process
The English manager underlined that he has the full support of the owners – 51% belonging to the Yoovidhya family and 49% to the Mateschitz heirs: “We are a team and we are united. We have the support of shareholders“. The journalists then asked Horner if he considered it appropriate to remain as team principal: “Absolutely yes. I've done it for 20 years and I have no doubt about it. I'm confident in the process and if I wasn't, I wouldn't be here.”
The Red Bull number one on the wall continued, showing confidence: “In times of uncertainty, the group comes together even more. And I have never seen the team more united and supportive than this. Everyone is focused on the car's performance and on the defense of the two world titles“. Horner then concluded: “Red Bull had a clear position, which was to let us continue with our activities as normal. Clearly there are these accusations and there is a proceeding that they are pursuing. Personally I deny any accusation and continue in my role“.
Horner was unable to answer a question, stopped by the team's communications manager, regarding whether or not he offered the complainant an agreement to close the matter.
