The data for Friday 28 January. Positive 13.7% with 1,051,288 swabs. Brusaferro: The curve shows a slight decrease. The cases are reduced in every age group, except in the 0-9 years. Hospitalizations and intense therapies down for the third consecutive day. The currently positives also decrease
I am 143,898
the new cases of Covid in Italy (yesterday there were 155,697, here the bulletin). It goes up like this at least 10,683,948
the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including recovered and died) since the outbreak began. THE deaths today I am 378
(yesterday 389), for a total of 145,537 victims from February 2020.
People recovered or discharged they are altogether 7,869,583 And 181,594 those that have become negative in the last 24 hours (165,779 yesterday). The positive current – the subjects who have the virus – turn out to be in everything 2,668,828, equal to -37.625 compared to yesterday (-10.128 the day before).
The swabs and the scenario
THE total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 1,051,288, or 11,532 more than yesterday when it was 1,039,756. The positivity rate drops to 13.7% (the approximation of 13.687%); yesterday it was 15%.
Less infections in 24 hours than yesterday. As usual, the swinging curve moves downward ahead of the weekend. However, the trend is slowing down, as the comparison with last Friday (January 21st) – the same day of the week – shows when they were recorded +179,106 cases with a rate of 16.4%: today, in fact, there are fewer new infections than that day, with a lower percentage (13.7% against 16.4%). Just look at the graph.
The ISS monitoring confirms an improvement in the scenario: the Rt index on symptoms drops to 0.97 (it was 1.31 last week), below the epidemic threshold of 1. The incidence of cases also falls, settling to 1,823 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants (it was 2,011 per 100 thousand in the previous report). The curve shows a slight decrease, a fact confirmed by the transmissibility index which is settling both for symptomatic cases and for hospitalizations below the epidemic threshold. This is also a positive indication, explains Silvio Brusaferro, president of the Higher Institute of Health, commenting on the weekly monitoring. Adding: Cases are reduced in all age groups, except in that 0-9 years.
there Lombardy to have the highest number of newly infected: here are +21,329 cases with a rate of 12.2% calculated on 175,870 swabs, which is the highest number of regional tests of the day. Last Friday Lombardy reported over 32 thousand new infections with a positivity of 16.1%, so comparing these numbers with those of today, it is clear that the region maintains its downward trend. (Here the bulletin)
Six other regions have a five-digit increase: Emilia-Romagna (+16,941 cases with a 19.4% rate), Veneto (+16,518 cases with a 12% rate), Lazio (+12,663 cases with a 13% rate), Campania (+ 11,319 cases with a 14.3% rate), Piedmont (+10,979 cases with an 11.6% rate) and Tuscany (+10,528 cases with a 15.4% rate).

There are 378 victims in the bulletin against 389 yesterday. In the count, at least 44 previous deviations were included: 37 from Sicily (out of 47 today, considering that 10 died between today and yesterday), 4 from Abruzzo and three from Campania, as indicated by the notes. For the second day in a row, no region / province reports zero bereavement, while the highest number of deaths in Lombardy (77).
