Spain already has its great luxury classic car event, in line with the iconic festivals of Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegancein whose last edition these impressive classic cars triumphed; the British Goodwood Revival; or the French Privé Loungewhere Cars like a Rolls-Royce belonging to John Lennon and an Isotta Fraschini belonging to a Hollywood star have shined. Along these lines, the Mallorca Icons has been created, a luxury event of these characteristics that is organized in our country, where there are also other similar initiatives such as the Costa del Sol elegance contest, which takes place in September in Marbella.
The first week of October took place on the idyllic island of Mallorca, the first edition of the Mallorca Iconsan event in which its highlight has been its classic car contest, a symbol of the events from which it is inspired: Pebble beach, Goodwood Revival or Salón Privé, among others.
But in addition to classic cars, Mallorca Icons has also left room for the latest generation supercars. Not in its contest, where only classics have been seen, but in some of the activities that have been part of the luxury event, with special attention to its two rally routes carried out throughout the island of Mallorca. One of them, called “On Tour”, has had as its protagonists 30 classic cars including, for example, a Mercedes-Benz SSK and a Chrysler CBIboth from 1928, a Porsche 356 B Roadster from 1960 or a Jaguar E-Type V 12 from 1971.
In the other rally, titled «Extravaganza», ten supercars and hypercars from different eras have participated. This is the complete list, which speaks for itself about the level of the event: a 2020 Ferrari 812; a McLaren Elva from the year 2022; a Mercedes Benz AMG GTR; a Porsche 911 from 2021 and another from 2023; a Mercedes Benz 190E 2.3-16 that belonged to Niki Laida; two Lamborghini Huracán Sterratos from this year; and a Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL.
The best classic cars from the concours d’elegance
But, as we said before, the guide of Mallorca Icons has been its classic car elegance contest, called in the classic way, in French: Concours d’Elegance The Grand.
In total, About 36 carefully selected cars have been shownall of them with origins between the years 1920 and 2020, mostly from German owners, as published by the local press that covered the event on site.
Models such as a Mercedes-Benz SSKL, a Mercedes-Benz 500K Cabriolet A, a Rolls Royce Phantom 1 or the first model manufactured in the history of the iconic Jaguar V12 have been part of the collection of classic luxury cars in this contest.
Those attending the event held in Mallorca have also been able to enjoy models like the Ford GT or the Issota Fraschini, precisely one of the classic cars featured in the recent edition of the Salon Privé, another of the most prestigious luxury car festivals in Europe. Additionally, a Porsche 911 that belonged to the late rally driver Ebs Mahle has been a finalist in the ‘Best Post-War Car of the Show’ category.
However, the two winning cars of the Mallorcan competition were a Rolls Royce Phantom Experimental by Jarvis & Sons, chosen as the best pre-war car (World War II), and the ISO Grifo, which beat the aforementioned Porsche 911 in the car category. best car in the competition manufactured after World War II.
The Phantom that won the Mallorcan competition is one of the three Phantom I modelsaccording to the Villa del Este elegance contestanother of the best known in Europe, experimental built in the 1920s with different coverings, totally different from each other. Specifically, the coachbuilder Jarvis of Wimbledon (Jarvis & Sons Limited) shaped the model that has prevailed in Mallorca, which stands out for its bluish color.

The Phantom I has shared the spotlight at Mallorca Icons with another four-wheeled gem, the ISO Grifo that has won the category of classic models after World War II.
It is a beautiful muscle car that the Italian company Iso Rivolta produced between 1963 and 1974, a vehicle that stands out, beyond the power of its V8 engine, for the innate elegance of its exterior lines, accompanied in this case by the gray color. of the bodywork.
These are the classic cars that have shone in the first week of October on the island of Mallorca in a new event that has put Spain on the map of classic elegance contests along with other similar events such as the aforementioned Costa del Sol elegance contestbased in Marbella.
