Nutritionist Mosley says high-protein diet is best for strong bones
A high-protein diet has a positive effect on bone strength and helps you lose weight around your waist, says nutritionist Michael Mosley. He gave his point of view expressed edition of the Daily Mail.
Mosley said a high-protein diet is best for losing waistlines and strengthening bones because it increases overall mobility, makes muscles stronger and more elastic, and makes bones stronger. Thus, this nutritional system, combined with physical activity, helps maintain health and improve your figure.
After age 30, Mosley noted, people begin to lose about five percent of their muscle mass every ten years. Such undesirable changes in body composition, according to him, provoke a decrease in endurance, flexibility and accumulation of visceral fat in the waist area with unchanged weight.
The nutritionist pointed out that it was previously believed that to maintain optimal muscle mass, women needed to consume an average of 45 grams of protein per day, and men – 55 grams. However, he said, research in recent years has shown that such consumption levels are too low for optimal health, especially in adulthood.
Mosley clarified that scientists from Texas, USA, after analyzing a large amount of data, came to the conclusion that for optimal health, people need to increase their protein intake to 90 grams per day. In the volunteers who participated in this study, a high-protein diet helped them become more mobile, stronger, and also contributed to effective fat burning in the abdominal area, the doctor added.
In conclusion, Mosley noted that consuming plenty of protein is directly linked to strong bones, which is especially important for older adults.
Previously, nutritionist Mosley named a practice accessible to everyone to preserve youth. According to him, yoga is a unique ancient practice that includes physical exercise, breath control and meditation. These components, in his opinion, complement each other and have a positive effect on a person’s physical and emotional health.
