Yet another ‘tire case’‘
The second Misano in two weeks provided even more twists than the first. This time there wasn’t a mini shower of rain that upset the balance of the race, but two distinct episodes that certainly change the face of the championshipat least until the next twist. The most important one for the ranking is certainly the Pecco Bagnaia’s slipwhich however also fuels the endless discussions on the risk of seeing this championship decided by Michelin tyres.
In fact, before the fall, the world champion had fallen to third position – very far from the Martin-Bastianini duo – due to a mysterious rear tire problem which took 15 laps to get up to temperature and start working. A dynamic that infuriated Pecco even more than the slip itself, which also came – according to the person concerned – without any real reason. The hope of all is that the final rush of this splendid sprint will not be affected – on either side, also thinking back to the infamous Qatar GP last year – by faulty tires or non-performing.
Clash for victory
The other side of this strange Sunday in Romagna is instead the one that sees starring Bastianini and Martin. The Beast angrily took a home win that perfectly lives up to his nickname: a decisive overtakingthe one signed on the last lap against the leader of the World Championship, who is made of courage and muscles. Inside turn-4 without hesitation, without thinking too much about the possible consequences, and ‘having fun’ in unleashing a hornet’s nest of controversy that has divided the paddock in half for the umpteenth time: Italians ‘innocentists’, Spanish ‘guiltists’Regardless of the judgments of merit, the hope is that in this final part of the season the Race Direction will analyze all possible future episodes with the same line of evaluation.
This is what Martin asked, annoyed by the ‘snatching’ of a victory that he had built up for himself practically throughout the race. With a cool head, however, the Pramac rider will understand that he can be more than happy with this result: starting the Asian tour with 24 points ahead of Bagnaia It’s no small feat. One could say that the Spaniard – using a tennis metaphor – broke his direct opponent’s serve. Too many times, however, #89 has wasted favorable situations in the last two years. There are 6 weekends left to race and Bagnaia, doing the math after the match, even let out a half smile: theThe reigning champion knows that not all is lost. As long as we avoid other ‘zeros’.
