The cause of death of the Soviet and Russian TV and radio host Igor Kirillov was age-related chronic diseases. This was announced by the assistant announcer Sergei Rublev on October 30.

According to the Izvestia source, Kirillov suffered from thrombosis of the lower extremities. The speaker’s condition worsened in September, but then he refused hospitalization. In October, he went to the hospital on his own.
Kirillov hosted the Vremya program for over 20 years. It was he who informed the citizens about the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite in 1957 and about the flight of Yuri Gagarin into space in 1961.
The announcer received hundreds of letters from fans. Answering the question about what other profession he could choose, Kirillov said that he was interested in the director’s work.
Kirillov received the title of People’s Artist of the USSR, was awarded the USSR State Prize, Orders of Merit for the Fatherland IV and III degrees, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
