As part of its participation in the 33rd session of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, currently held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, the Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah organized a discussion session entitled “Challenges of Teaching the Arabic Language in Europe,” in which Dr. Amhamed Safi Mosteghanemi, Secretary-General of the Academy, interviewed: French historian Dr. Charlotte Quarry, professor at the Department of Arab Studies at the University of Lyon 3, and Dr. Ignatius Gutiérrez, head of the Department of Arab Studies at the Autonoma University of Madrid.
The speakers in the session unanimously agreed on the importance of the Arabic language as a bridge for cultural and civilizational communication between the East and the West, stressing the necessity of developing educational curricula that meet the needs of the times and enhance the status of the Arabic language in the European arena and preparing a new generation of young teachers capable of innovating innovative methods in teaching the Arabic language to native speakers.
