Through different public subsidies, it wants to provide training in sectors such as industry, health and tourism, among others
The Agency for Local Development and Employment (ADLE) is pending receipt of 2.5 million euros from different grants to teach courses in line with the demand of companies in Cartagena. They will target the unemployed. For example, the Employment and Training Service (SEF) of the Autonomous Community requested 430,000 euros, to provide ten training actions that improve the skills of 150 unemployed in the tourism, care economy, and circular economy sectors. and industry. All programs include an internship period in companies “committed to development and employment,” explained municipal sources.
Another of the calls, for an amount greater than 207,000 euros, is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the Next Generation funds. It is aimed at preparing and accompanying unemployed young people under the age of 30, who have an academic degree and cannot find work because they do not have professional experience.
«We work to accompany our students in all phases of their job search and we follow up after they are hired to check that the job they get is stable. The companies in Cartagena, which help us train workers, are essential in this work,” explained the mayor, Noelia Arroyo.
For the industrial sector
Through ‘Cartagena circular economy’, the ADLE claimed a subsidy of almost 900,000 euros to teach three specialties: photovoltaic solar installations, nurseries and gardens and agriculture. A similar amount was requested through the ‘Cartagena economy of care’ program, to give another three courses in basic kitchen operations, socio-health care for dependent people in social institutions and cleaning of furniture in buildings and premises. This will make it possible to hire another 40 unemployed young people.
