The Civil Guard was able toinculcate the 17-year-old arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crime of his ex-girlfriend in Orihuela (Alicante) with burned remains of clothing, a knife partially destroyed and a wrapper ignition pads in an abandoned house that registered a fire on the day of the events and that was close to the place of the attack on the minor, 15 years old.
The teenager had met last Sunday with the young man, with whom she had broken up “days before”, to talk. However, during the meeting, her ex-boyfriend allegedly attacked him with a knife with which he caused a serious injury to his neck. The victim died in the hospital where, despite medical efforts, his life could not be saved.
The crime occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, according to investigations by the Civil Guard. Despite the severity of the injury, the young man managed to reach his brother’s housenear the scene of the attack, who took her to the Torrevieja hospital where she finally died.
The Women-Minor Team (EMUME) took over the investigation after determining that the main suspect was the victim’s ex-boyfriendwho was quickly identified, located and detained at his father’s home, around 11:00 p.m. that same night.
A fire alert
In parallel, a call to 112 alerted of a fire in an abandoned house near the site of the attack. In it, the agents found burned remains of clothing, a partially destroyed knife and a packaging of ignition pills. These objects, along with other evidence obtained in the area of the events, allowed establishing a “direct” link with the suspect.
The Civil Guard activated several units, including the Main Posts of Torrevieja and Pilar de la Horadada, the Judicial Police Teams of Torrevieja and Almoradí, and the Command’s Criminalistics Laboratory. In addition, he had the support of the Orihuela Local Police to secure the evidence and analyze the crime scene.
The head of the Investigative Court number 9 of Alicante, acting as guard and replacing the competent juvenile court, approved the request of the Prosecutor’s Office and agreed on Tuesday to the precautionary measure of confinement in a closed regime for a maximum period of six months to the detained minor, extendable at the request of the Public Ministry for another six months.
The “conclusive” evidence collectedincluding the identification of evidence at the scene, have allowed the Prosecutor’s Office to request preventive detention in a case in which the court has declared the proceedings confidential.
