Tensions continue to appear between PSG and the Paris City Council. Last week the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, stated the following: “The Parc des Princes is not for sale”.
The difficult relationship between the Parisian city council and the Qatari entity is making it increasingly likely that PSG will have to look for a life in another stadium. The Parc des Princes is an unequivocal sign of the French capital as a whole, but at this point everything indicates that in a few years, if the tension continues to take over the negotiations, the Qataris will have to go to another stadium, or knowing their reputation, carry out the construction of a new one.
David Belliard, deputy to the Paris City Council, gave an interview in which he positioned himself along the same ideological line as the mayor: “We are in a liars poker game. We will see what happens in the negotiations. I am not in favor of selling major assets to the private sector, and in particular to Qatar. The Parc des Princes is one of them. We need to participate in a certain number of prestigious assets. The Parc des Princes does not belong to Qatar, but to the Parisians and, more broadly, to the French. I want it to continue to be part of this common heritage.”
PSG issued a statement in which it acknowledged its disappointment at the decision taken by the city council to force them to leave the Parque de los Príncipes, a stadium in which they had invested more than 85 million euros, and in which they were going to continue investing in the years to come.
