Matteo Poloni and BF Motorsport represent the new duo that lines up at the start of the 2022 season of TCR Italy.
In a week the doors will open in Monza for the first appointment of the Italian tourism series and the driver from Bergamo has reached a last-minute agreement with the team from Romagna.
The team of Imerio Brigliadori will entrust to the Lombard the Audi RS 3 LMS with which it had attended the championship and fought for the title in 2020-2021, waiting to have the new model of the Four Rings car available, already ordered for some time to the House of Ingolstadt.
“It was a somewhat surprising agreement reached, but I have to say that I am really happy and I can’t wait to start this brand new adventure. We had the best of … Easter!”, Explains Poloni speaking with Motorsport .com.
“It was a long winter full of changes for me, I honestly did not think I could be on the grid this year for a variety of reasons, but the great friendship with Imerio in the end meant that we found the agreement to define a agreement, and I really thank him for that “.

New team for what was the standard bearer of Race Lab, the small personal team that accompanied him to his debut in the series; now there is a challenge that particularly intrigues him from many points of view.
“Imerio’s team is very professional and good, and they proved it by fighting for the title until the last race in the last two years, so from this point of view I know that I have capable people behind me who give me great certainty.”
“In addition, there is the serenity of not having to deal personally with the organization of the trips and the tuning of the car. I have raced with my team, Race Lab, in the past two years and it has been wonderful and useful to understand the world of TCR, which was new to me “.
“The fact that I am now only the pilot will allow me to focus more on this role, without distractions and stress due to other aspects that in the long run did not guarantee me to be physically and mentally at 100% due to the fatigue accumulated over the course of the season. “.

Another certainty is the Audi, which although an older generation model is exactly what Poloni had chosen for himself after his years in the Clio Cup.
“In the winter I sold my RS 3 LMS and tried to figure out whether to change the brand, possibly taking other roads. I did some tests with other cars, but then nothing came of it, also due to a lack of interesting offers. When we found the agreement with BF Motorsport for 2022 was immediately clear that the most logical choice was to start the year with the old Audi “.
“Imerio has already been active for some time to have the new one, but now having no way to test it properly before the start of the season, it didn’t make much sense to jump into the fray with so many unknowns and inexperience. Instead, we already know the old model very well. , so I’m confident I can do well and play it “.

And speaking of values on the field, Poloni is convinced that the TCR Italy 2022 grid will be well fed and full of very fast and good drivers with whom it will not be easy to fight.
“The names that have come out are really interesting, but others will come. I have seen the times obtained by various competitors during the tests they have carried out in the past days in Monza, some are very strong and I am convinced that a good championship will come out”.
“Personally I know that I will be able to give my best trying to be there with them, with a mind free from thoughts and tiredness, supported by a great team and with the great desire to face an adventure that charges me particularly”.
