With common regulations between national and international championships around the world, the same cars can be used almost anywhere.
A cornerstone of the TCR is its affordability, with regulations designed to keep budgets low and competition high through performance balancing measures.
This has brought the success of the TCR into the world of customer racing, avoiding the cycle of skyrocketing expenses when racing schedules are handled by the manufacturers themselves.
Customers can purchase cars developed by the manufacturer and compete at the highest international level or in their respective national championships that adopt the rules of the TCR.
And, with the advent of the Pure ETCR last year, this can now also happen with electric cars, as well as more traditional internal combustion engines.
The Cupra e-Racer led the way in the first year of fully electric multi-brand car racing. He has won three of the five rounds of the Pure ETCR, with Mattias Ekstrom taking the crown of the series which has achieved FIA World Cup status since 2022.
The car delivers 500kW (670CV) of power to the rear wheels, with the pair of electric motors allowing acceleration from 0 to 100km / h (62mph) in 3 “2, without the need for a gearbox, and a top speed of 270km / h (168mph).

Cupra is also achieving great success among conventional petrol cars. The 340hp Leon Competicion TCR, equipped with a six-speed gearbox that debuted in 2020, is equipped with the latest aerodynamics and suspension technologies designed to optimize set-up adjustments.
Mikel Azcona and Rob Huff won FIA World Touring Car Cup races with Hungarian team Zengo Motorsport last year, with the Spaniard also taking the TCR Europe title.
Robert Dahlgren took the lead in TCR Scandinavia with his Leon, but there have been other victories in national series such as Germany, Spain, Italy and Denmark, where former Formula 1 driver Jan Magnussen finished third in the standings.
A broad success that meant that the Leon Competicion, despite being quite new, placed third in the model of the year 2021 ranking created by the founder of TCR, WSC Ltd, based on world results.
In 2022 the car will aim to emulate the success achieved by its predecessor in 2017, the Cupra TCR, while the number of Leon racing around the world continues to increase.
It was recently confirmed that the car will make its TCR UK debut this year, with many more following suit globally.
