The Grammy Awards are the highest recognition on the world music scene. This version, number 66, was held in Los Angeles and was historic due to the victory of artists such as Karol G, who became the first woman to win the category of best urban music album. Taylor Swift, Time magazine's 2023 Person of the Year, won her fourth Grammy for her album 'Midnights,' while Miley Cyrus won record of the year.
The female artists starred at the 66th night of the Grammys in Los Angeles. An action-packed show where women took top honors and delivered the most memorable performances.
Miley Cyrus powerfully sang 'Flowers', which won the record of the year award. Billie Eilish's ballad 'What was I made for', used in the hit film 'Barbie', was song of the year for her and co-writer Finneas O'Connell, her brother.
Phoebe Bridgers American singer and songwriter, took home the most trophies from the 2024 Grammy Awardsearning four wins, including three with his band, 'Boygenius'.
Two artists made history. The American Victoria Monét became the best new artist, and the Colombian Karol G was the first woman to win recognition for best urban music album.
Urban and Latino effect of 'Bichota' in the United States
The event that awards the most recognized musical personalities by the world public each year was the scene of a historic event in urban music. This gender, historically related to men, now has a Colombian queen.
Karol G made history on Sunday by becoming the first woman to win the award for best urban music album for her hit album 'Mañana Sera Bonito'.
“This is my first time at the Grammys,” the Latin artist exclaimed to the audience in English. “And this is the first time I've had my own Grammy.”
The singer, songwriter and actress originally from the Colombian city of Medellín had previously won five Latin Grammy Awards, including best new artist. La 'Bichota', as she is popularly known, expressed her emotion when receiving the award.
“I'm super happy, I'm super nervous, I'm super excited to be in front of so many legends that I admire and respect.”
'Swifty' phenomenon continues to sweep
After weeks in which he attracted attention for his involvement in the US political debate with an aggressive campaign by Donald Trump's right against him, the Grammy Awards once again focused attention on his art.
'Midnights' earned Swift the fourth Grammy of her career for album of the year, an achievement no one can match. In this way, the artist who organized a successful tour of Latin America last year, broke the tie with the legendary Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder, who won the honor three times each.
“For me the prize is work. “All I want to do is keep doing it,” Taylor Swift said.
Accepting the award for best pop vocal album, her 13th Grammy, Taylor said she had been keeping a secret for two years.
“My new album comes out on April 19. It's called 'The Tortured Poets Department'. “I’m going to go post the cover right now backstage.”
In this way, Taylor Swift announced her new album.
Flowers to Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus took home two Grammy Awards, the first of her music career. She won best pop solo performance for the single 'Flowers' and record of the year, also for 'Flowers'.
After being declared the winner of Record of the Year by Meryl Streep and Mark Ronson, Miley danced with fellow nominee Billie Eilish as she made her way to the stage.
“Before my life was beautiful. So don't think this is important. Although it is very important,” said Miley Cyrus.
After thanking her for the recognition, the American artist added that “she doesn't think the public has forgotten her.”
Victoria Monét, revelation artist of the night
Monét was crowned best new artist. The 34-year-old artist won the category against Gracie Abrams, Fred Again, Noah Kahan, Ice Spice, Jelly Roll, Coco Jones and The War and Treaty.

Killer Mike, arrested after winning three awards
Police took rapper Killer Mike away in handcuffs from Sunday night's Grammy Awards after sweeping three of the music industry's biggest awards for rap music, witnesses said.
Los Angeles police did not provide any statement on the matter and two press officers on duty said they had no information.
A video posted on social media showed police escorting Killer Mike, with his hands handcuffed behind his back, across the concourse of the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
The Hollywood Reporter, citing a stadium security official, reported that Killer Mike was arrested for an unspecified misdemeanor unrelated to the Grammy Awards.
