Shinji Mikami expressed his sadness over the closure Of Tango Gameworksa studio that he helped found way back in 2010 and with which he created the series The Evil Within, of which he signed the first chapter, acting as executive producer for The Evil Within 2, Ghostwire: Tokyo and Hi-Fi Rush.
Mikami isn’t very active on social networks, about which he rarely publishes comments. Given the situation however, she wanted to somehow convey his state of mind by writing: “Tango closed. Sad.”, which we can translate into “Tango was closed. Sadness.” The post is short and concise, but perfectly in line with the character.
A sad moment
Mikami is considered a master of the world of video games. His career began in the early 90s, but his name established itself in 1996, with the launch of the first Resident Evil on PlayStation for Capcom, which sold millions of copies. Eclectic and eager to always experiment with new gameplay innovations in his games, he was the author of the original Resident Evil 4, as well as Dino Crisis, God Hand and countless other titles.
He recently announced his exit from Tango Gameworks, to found a new development house and move away from survival horror. However, his name remained linked to the company, so many immediately looked to him after Microsoft’s closure, at least to see if he would react. And the reaction was there, very calm as usual, but it was there. It is currently unknown what he is working on, although news is expected in the future.
For those who don’t know, in recent days Microsoft has announced the closure of some of its development studios, including Arkane Austin and, indeed, Tango Gameworks, acquired together with the Bethesda package. With Microsoft, the studio launched Ghostwire: Tokyo and Hi-Fi Rush, the latter declared a success by the leaders of the Redmond house.
