Talib Al Balushi, an Omani captain who has been working for 17 years at Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi, has been able to achieve many accomplishments throughout his career in the airline, piloting various types of aircraft, as well as training pilots on various aircraft.
Al-Balushi, a pilot and trainer in the company, said in an interview with “Etihad”: “My career began in 2005 with Etihad Airways, which is the beginning of the company’s career, after I worked in other airlines before.”
He added, “I am currently flying the A350, the company’s newest aircraft, to destinations as far away as New York, London, New Delhi, Chicago and Mumbai, in addition to having previously flown the giant Airbus A380.”
Regarding his work as a trainer in the airline, Al Balooshi says, “I do advanced training for pilots on various Airbus planes and at all levels on those planes, and I am proud to do so at Etihad Airways.”
Regarding his work in the company and his experience in the UAE for years, Al Balushi says: “The UAE has been my home and my homeland since childhood, where I completed my middle and high school studies, and therefore I do not feel any alienation as if I live among my brothers and my family.”
He added, “There are many Omanis working for Etihad Airways, and the company’s environment is distinguished from any other global airlines in that it is a multicultural and multinational environment, and therefore we exchange experiences and learn from other cultures, which enriches our experiences and work.”
He says, “One of the reasons for joining Etihad Airways, besides the multiculturalism, is that it allows rapid development since I started working in it, as it was and still is an important company and has developed rapidly, so I personally gained many skills and experience.”
“Working in Etihad Airways is a golden opportunity to gain experience and pilot new aircraft of various types,” he added.
“I consider myself an ambassador for the UAE through Etihad Airways and I am proud to work in it by conveying a positive image through travel,” he says.
On the Omani and Emirati relations in the aviation and tourism sector, Al Balushi says, “The relations between the two countries are strong and deep in history, geographical location and joint cooperation in various fields, as it is a complementary relationship.”
He added, “It is expected that after the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, relations will increase strength, contribute to strengthening brotherly relations, increase love between the two peoples, and enhance cooperation and partnership in various fields.”
