This new film, still untitled, will deal with the most personal side of Martin’s journey (active from 1989 to 2012) to becoming one of the most popular boxers in the 1990s. even holding the welterweight and super welterweight titles.

The film joins the list of recent projects by Sydney Sweeney, who has just starred in the romantic comedy ‘Anyone But You’ and the horror film ‘Immacualate’, demonstrating her great versatility on the big screen.
“I practiced grappling and kickboxing between the ages of 12 and 19. I really wanted to get back in the ring, train and transform my body. The story of Christy Martin It’s not light, it’s physically and emotionally demanding (…) but I love challenging myself,” the actress told Deadline.
For his part, Michôd, who also spoke to the media, expressed that he had been wanting to make a film about “women with great energy inside” for some time and that he noticed the “potential” of Christy’s story as soon as he discovered it. .
The film has the collaboration of Christy Martin herself shaping the story, with a script by Mirrah Foulkes (‘Judy & Punch’) and production by Black Bear, which will try to find international distributors at the 77th edition of the International Cannes Film Festival, scheduled for the next few days between the 14th and on May 25.
