Swimming The International Swimming Federation restricts the participation of transgender athletes in women’s competitions

The new policy is effective Monday. The association will also set up a working group to take responsibility for developing an open series for transgender athletes.

International Swimming Association (Fina) restricts participation of transgender swimmers in women’s competitions, organization informed on Sunday.

Fina made its decision at the extraordinary general meeting of the organization, which was held in connection with the World Championships in Budapest. Finan’s new equality policy was supported by a 71.5 per cent majority of the 152 voting members of the national federation.

Prior to the decision, members of the organization heard a report from a working group of experts in sports, medicine, law and human rights.

In the future Fina requirethat transgender athletes have had their gender corrected by the age of 12 in order to participate in women’s competitions.

“We must protect the right of athletes to compete, but we must also protect the integrity of competition in our events, especially women’s competitions,” Husain Al-Musallam said in a statement.

Fina will also set up a working group to take responsibility for the development of an open series for transgender athletes.

“Fina always welcomes every athlete. Creating an open category means everyone has the opportunity to compete at the elite level, ”Al-Musallam said.

“This has never been done before, so Finan needs to lead the way.”

Finan’s new policy will take effect on Monday.

Finnish Seta, a separate unit of the Center for the Diversity of Gender Diversity, tells on their websitethat the minimum age for research in Finland is 13 years.

According to the center, there is no exact age limit for starting sex-enhancing hormone treatment in Finland, but it is rare to start treatment under the age of 18. At least 18 years of age are required to correct your ID. Surgical treatment can also be obtained at the earliest at the age of 18 and with the help of a diagnosis and referral that entitles to treatment.
