The missing woman came from the Rhineland-Palatinate Ahr valley. The body was discovered a few weeks ago, said a spokesman for the Koblenz police force responsible for the Ahr valley on Friday (October 15).

Apparently the woman had been driven across the Rhine to Rotterdam in the Netherlands. It was only at the end of September that investigators were able to identify the woman who has been missing since the flood disaster using a DNA sample. Furthermore, two people are considered missing. The number of deaths in Rhineland-Palatinate rose to 134 when the woman was found.

Heavy rains had triggered catastrophic flooding on rivers in Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia in mid-July. Many communities, especially in the Ahr Valley, were devastated.
