Piastri doesn't make excuses
It was all in all a positive Saturday for the McLaren. The Woking team confirmed how the Suzuka circuit meets the characteristics of the car: Lando Norris was the best among those who didn't drive a Red Bull, while Oscar Plates he had to settle for sixth place.
The Australian, it must be said, never looked for alibis to explain the difference with Norris. And he wouldn't need it either, considering the difference in experience and the great talent of the Briton. For the #81, the difference in the qualifying results – a good three tenths – lies entirely in the driver.
Piastri's words
“I think last year we were clearly the second force. This weekend, I'd say we're a close second, and the pilot can make the difference. I didn't do it today“.
“From Q2 onwards I couldn't find the rhythm, which is frustrating. I have a couple of areas to focus on overnight with my engineers, but the margins seem very narrow across all the drivers. Tomorrow I will have a good opportunity to improve and score points in the race“.
