Also the alloy wheels they could become a symbol of automotive sustainability. The industry, in this period, is very open to any solution that can allow savings in terms of material used, with the advantage also from the point of view of communication. Because today those who also work on the environmental side have an ever-increasing reputation. The applicability to the rims is possible thanks to the recycled aluminum, possibly indefinitely. Among others, the companies Raffmetal and Cromodora Wheels are trying.
“Raffmetal uses aluminum scraps that have exhausted their life cycle, making the most of them. Even making them become “sustainable” rims for cars. As stipulated by the agreement signed with Cromodora Wheels, which provides for alloy wheels with recycled material close to 80%. The two companies will offer the market a range of alloy wheels that responds to the growing demands of manufacturers in the automotive sector: reduction of emissions in the production phase and use of recycled material maintaining performance requirements. To do this, a primary recycling alloy will be created which will allow a reduction in energy consumption of 95% and a reduction in CO2 emissions of over 89%. The alloys will be produced at the Special Alloys plant in Vobarno and will be destined for the Cromodora Wheels plants“, Reports the Corriere della Sera.
According to the two companies, the use of these recycled alloys will make it possible to anticipate the times and to undertake new industrial ties, with a view to ‘all for one’: by sharing technologies and broadening horizons, more opportunities for business. A fundamental challenge of the industry is precisely to maintain performance and reduce costs, rather than simply going to the extremes of one or the other goal.
