Here, young people meet each other when other places are not open. When cars are parked next to each other, you can even reach the other car in the heat of your own drive.
The S-market car park is a favorite gathering place for young people in Kankaanpää. On Friday night, the scene had been reached by car, moped and tractor ride.

The young people we meet at Kankaanpää at night do not want to comment on what happened with their own names or pictures. They say they know at least some of the imprisoned men.
“I wasn’t surprised in any way,” says a woman of the same age with the suspects who is on the move with two other young people.
“When a person is marginalized, he or she will come up with something to do.”
HS visited on Fridays and Saturdays in Kankaanpää, Jämijärvi and Lavia, where some of the suspects in the planning of a terrorist act officially live.
At Kankaanpää, young people are thinking that a small locality can provide fertile ground for the preparation of an extreme act. There are a lot of rumors and incitement, they say. Some may need to prove to others that they have power.
“As rumors spin, you may feel like you’re considered a tough guy if you can even threaten with things like that. And when people say you don’t have an egg to do something, you can really start doing it. ”
Some suspected men have been described as neo-Nazi or far-right. One of the young people she met at HS, a woman working in Kankaanpää, says she saw “neo-Nazis” in her work who behave racistly and oppose authorities. He does not say whether the people he meets are precisely young adults suspected of preparing for a terrorist act.
Another young person met by HS believes that neo-Nazism is not a very widespread phenomenon in the locality.
At the local nightclub in Siili, the young man says that he attended the same secondary school in Kankaanpää with at least one suspect. He, too, wants to remain anonymous because “everyone in this village knows everyone”.
“I think they’ve been guys since middle school. I know at least three of them, and I have seen them every now and then. ”
Cloth head next to Jämijärvi the news has been received with a heavy mind. On Saturday afternoon, some locals already know that one of the suspects lives in their own village.
Jämijärvi resident Leena Koivunen says his son is of the same age group as the suspects. Koivunen says that the news has aroused her concern about the kind of thinking behind the action being prepared.
Leena Koivunen, who lives in Jämijärvi, wonders whether the purpose of the young people suspected of planning a terrorist act was to destabilize society.
“They are no longer quite young but young adults. Its peers must already have discretion in their actions, ”he says.
“Certainly such thoughts arise over a long period of time. Maybe the online world of this time is also influenced. ”
Koivusen In the opinion of both Jämijärvi and neighboring Kankaanpää, young people have been invested in, for example, by offering comprehensive leisure opportunities. He thinks the case is about idealism rather than a lack of activity in small localities.
“Even if it was vandalism, one might still think that the village does not have enough activities. But a terrorist act would require an idea as well as thorough planning and thinking. ”
“The concern is whether this is a single small group or whether such neo-Nazism and radicalization are raising their heads in Finland. Yes, I think such cases destabilize society. ”
Cloth head in the ice rink, everyday life goes on as usual on Saturday. Clothed Paavo-Petteri Männistö has come to watch his offspring hockey tournament.
“Yesterday at night, the thing was talked about at Christmas. Some were a little skeptical that the boys would have really developed anything so big, ”says Männistö.

Männistö also believes that the case is about a very small group. He has not come across any thought or behavior described as neo-Nazi.
“There hasn’t been such a thing, at least since I’ve been busy in the city.”
Männistö says that he has heard that at least some of the suspects have gone to day jobs. Many others also describe men as businesslike and employed. Some of them have been seen at a local gym, for example.
Part young locals interviewed by HS say that far-right traits have been seen in some suspects in the past.
Many associate some suspects with skin-type attire, material glorifying far-right on social media, and discriminatory use of foreigners and people with disabilities. The older a person is asked, the more surprising the case sounds to have come.
This is also the description of a person living in Pavia’s Lavia Tapio Nieminen. One of the suspects’ home address is Lavia, but although Nieminen knows the area well, he says that he does not know the suspects due to the large age difference.
Tapio Nieminen, who lives in Lavia, says that the information about the suspicion of a crime reaching home corners has not yet affected the atmosphere in the region.
“This fall, the village was sometimes run by several police cars a day. But a lot of us elderly live here, and we are not surprised, ”says Nieminen.
“Although it’s not nice to have something like this nesting in the community,” he adds.
