Superbonus, the new government aims to reduce the deduction to 80% for the first home
The 19th legislature has opened, the first close to the deadline for the budget law. A stumbling block that the majority led by Giorgia Meloni will have to face immediately, to avoid the specter of the provisional exercise.
Among the priorities outlined by the center-right already in the electoral campaign there will also be the modification of Superbonus and citizenship income: according to press previews, both the symbolic measures of the Conte governments could already be revised in the maneuver, which must be definitively approved by 31 December .
The Superbonus, introduced by the second Conte government, allows taxpayers to obtain a deduction equal to 110% of the cost of renovations to make the buildings environmentally friendly, which reduces the amount of taxes due to the State over five years. Alternatively, the construction company can give the customer a discount directly on the invoice, acquiring the tax credit which can then be transferred again. The measure, together with other bonuses introduced in recent months, was accused of having encouraged abuse and fraud, without providing adequate controls. According to the promoters, however, it has contributed decisively to stimulating the recovery from the crisis triggered by the pandemic.
According to Il Corriere della Sera, in the next maneuver Fratelli d’Italia could reduce the deduction for the main home from 110 to 80 percent while for second homes the percentage could drop to 65 or even 50 percent. For all the practices already authorized, a safeguard clause will be inserted in order not to stop the construction sites already started.
The measure has already been reviewed by the Draghi government, which had limited the exchange of tax credits linked to the Superbonus and other building bonuses. The changes had sparked protests among insiders who had called for corrective measures to avert the risk of paralysis in the sector. The government still in office has also revised the rates and deadlines for the Superbonus: as regards the work to be carried out in condominiums, the percentage at 110% will be in force until 2023, and then will drop to 70 percent a year. later and 65 percent in 2025. For villas, the maximum deadline for applying is December 31, 2022.
