And new research, published in the journal Nature Medicine, warns that the recovering corona virus may suffer from long-term side effects, especially in the heart and blood vessels.
The research indicated that this warning also applies to those who did not suffer from severe “Covid-19” complications.
“These effects include cardiac arrest, which occurs when the heart stops suddenly,” he added.
A cardiac arrest requires immediate medical attention on the spot, including CPR, or else the person will die.
And the study found that people who had contracted corona were 2.5 percent more likely to have a heart attack in the following year, compared to those who did not have the virus.
Cardiac arrest was one of 20 “serious” side effects that could affect future patients with corona, including stroke and blood clots, arrhythmia, acute coronary syndrome and pulmonary embolism.
The researchers stated that these risks target young people and the elderly, regardless of their health condition.
