Homeland|Matriculation examination
Some of the candidates start to complete the degree according to the new degree structure.
Spring student writing begins today with a test of mother tongue and literacy. Today it is also the turn of the Finnish or Swedish as a Second Language and Literature exam.
On Thursday, it is time for a short foreign language exam. The native language and literature writing test will be held this Friday.
Student transcripts will be held between March 15 and the first day of April.
Candidates starting their writing on Tuesday will complete a degree in accordance with the new degree structure. In the new degree structure, the matriculation examination must include examinations in at least five degree subjects.
The mother tongue and literature exam is the only exam common to all. In addition, the degree must include at least four examinations in different subjects from at least three of the following groups: mathematics, a second native language, a foreign language and a real subject. Exams must also include at least one long-term exam
Spring 46,340 students have registered for the matriculation examination, which is about 300 less than in the spring of 2021.
There are about 24,000 registrations for re-taking an approved exam. About 4,200 enrollments for re-taking an rejected exam.
Enrollment in retake of an approved exam has started to decline, and there are now about 3,500 fewer than a year ago.
“Enrollments have also been affected by the coronation situation and changes in university student selection,” the Student Examination Board estimates in a press release.
