The Ministry of Health has formalized the farewell to the obligation of masks starting next weekend.
A few more days and one of the latest restrictions is about to drop anticovid present in our country. In fact, starting from next October 1st it will no longer be compulsory to wear the mask on public transport and in health facilities.
The decision was communicated by Ministry of Health who has decided not to extend the measure at this stage where the covid is kept under control.
From the October 1st masks will no longer be mandatory on trains, buses, metro, hospitals, medical clinics and RSA. The ministry, while not publishing new information, will most likely continue to recommend and invite citizens to wear a mask, especially in the event of gatherings.
Especially in hospitals and nursing homes for the elderly, the use of masks has always been a delicate issue given the fragility of the people who are there. Not very much in agreement with the choice of the ministry is the professor of Hygiene at the Catholic University Walter Ricciardi.
Stop the masks, Ricciardi disagrees
For the Dr. Ricciardi leaving everyone free without a mask, especially in health places can be dangerous. “If we abolish the use of masks with a germ that is so contagious today, we give it the green light, especially in hospitals where people go to be treated and would run the risk of becoming infected, not to mention the risks of health workers ” – he said, referring to the case of London.
“In the Kingdom Unitedwhere all precautions have been abolished today have 200 thousand health workers with Long Covid and between 2 and 3 million citizens with aftermath of the infection “ – he said.
For this reason, he hopes that someone will re-propose the obligation to wear a mask at least in health places. “I hope that there is an extension of the obligation in these environments because otherwise the current trend of rising infections, triggered by the restart of the schools, will become even faster. There will already be problems, in a few weeks, for the rise of the pandemic curve in progress ” – her words.
