Steve Carell is set to return to the lead role in a new comedy series, created by Bill Lawrence Of Ted Lasso And Matt Tarses by The Goldbergs. The series, still untitled, received a 10-episode order from HBO. Lawrence and Tarses reunite for the first time since their collaboration on Lawrence’s hit medical comedy Scrubs.
According to a report from Deadline, the new series, set on a university campus, follows the complex relationship between an author (Carell) and his daughter. The comedy it will be shot with a single camera and each episode will last about 30 minutes. In a statement, Bill Lawrence said:

HBO’s commissioning of the show is part of a plan to reinvigorate its comedic offeringafter the recent finales of Barry And Curb Your Enthusiasm. The new series will be produced by Warner Bros. TV, a sister company of HBO. Channing Dungey, President And CEO of the Warner Bros. Television Grouppraised the talent behind the new series, stating:

While there are no details yet on the production calendar or release window for the new series, Carell fans won’t have to wait long to see him in action again comic. Currently, Carell stars in John Krasinski’s first children’s film, IF. The actor lends his voice to the imaginary giant friend, Bluewho along with Cailey Fleming’s Bea, must reunite imaginary friends with their real friends.
