Many arrived through the previews of the Japanese portals Famitsu and IGN Japan new details on Stellar Bladethe action game coming to PS5 this spring.
For the occasion, the developers of Shift Up, also known for the alluring free-to-play shooter Goddess of Victory: Nikke, talked about the games that influenced the creative process of Stellar Blade. In particular, Kim Hyun Tae, the CEO of the studio, mentioned NieR: Automata and God of War as main sourcesin addition to Bayonetta, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
According to Kim, Stellar Blade will be a mix of linear progression and semi-open world areas. For example, the initial stages of the adventure will be linear, but there will be a change of pace once you reach the city of Zion, with the player able to begin exploring vast environments.
Speaking of Zion, it is a recurring stage of the adventure, where the player will be able to interact with various NPCs and take charge missions of various typessuch as finding missing people, activating certain devices, eliminating enemies, etc., or even engaging in leisure activities, such as fishing.
Lots of action and alternative costumes
On the gameplay side, the boss of Shift Up described Stellar Blade as an adrenaline-filled action game that asks the player to make the most of a great variety of combos and to read the movements of the opponents to react promptly with dodges and parries. In addition to close combat, the protagonist EVE will be able to use a vast arsenal of long-range weapons. Kim also explained that the boss fights are a central element of Stellar Blade on which the developers have put a lot of effort to make them unique and compelling. On the difficulty side, players will be able to choose between various levels based on their tastes.
As we saw in the Stellar Blade gameplay trailer from last week's State of Play, it will be possible to change EVE's outfit during the course of the adventure. In this sense, Kim revealed that they exist between 20 and 30 costumes, some of them for supporting characters Adam and Lily. Some of them will be purchasable in the city, while others will have to be crafted using specific materials and resources. Apparently there are also some “rare costumes”, which players “should look forward to”.
We remind you that Stellar Blade will be available exclusively for PS5 starting from April 26, 2024with pre-orders of the various editions available from February 7th.
